Stop the Shame and Stigma of Addiction
Understanding addiction is the first step on the road to recovery. Addiction is a chronic brain disease that should be treated as a disease, and the perception of addiction as a choice only hinders recovery. The shame of addiction shouldn’t prevent individuals from seeking help or helping others in their community.
At New Season, we support the education of treating addiction as a disease. We want to stop the stigma and give our patients the best treatment programs to help them overcome addiction.
First Call, an alcohol and drug prevention and recovery organization based in Kansas City, created a series of ads that speak to stopping the social stigma and negative connotations associated with individuals struggling with addiction. These powerful non-profit ads help people understand that addiction is a disease, not a choice and not a personal weakness. Help us end the stigma of addiction by sharing these videos with others who need to understand that those fighting addictions deserve to be treated with dignity, respect, and compassion.
